We interviewed Keita Nakao from the Domestic Division – what does he have to say about being new to GreenCarbon? Please read to the end!
Q.Please briefly introduce yourself, including your career to date.
After joining a major telecommunications company as a new graduate, I was initially assigned to the sales department, where I was in charge of new business development. Later, I was also in charge of new development sales in the construction materials department of a tyre manufacturer, and at my third company, an AI development company, I was mainly in charge of new development sales while following up with existing customers.
The first time in my life I made a dive visit was to a newspaper delivery shop near Ginkakuji Temple in Kyoto. I remember as if it was yesterday that my hands were trembling as I opened the door and my voice was shaking as I greeted them (incidentally, I wandered around for about 30 minutes before I was ready). The result was that I was refused at the gate. Moreover, on the way back, I caught my foot on the delivery bicycle and fell over the dominoes, which really made me want to cry lol.
When I write this, you might think that it sounds like a hard job, but I think it has many positive effects, such as building courage and making you more sociable in your private life. I can also pick up women without being scared (whether they are interested is another story).
Q.What made you decide to work for GreenCarbon?
I thought I could save the planet! I have been engaged in telecommunications, building materials, AI and other commercial products that seem to have a large positive impact on human life. In the midst of all this, the chance to work on the largest-scale unit I could think of – the global environment – sprang up, and I thought this was definitely something I wanted to join.
I also came to know about GreenCarbon through a customer (the president’s brother) whom I had worked closely with at my previous job and whom I truly respected, and I felt that if he recommended GreenCarbon, then there was no doubt about it.
Q. What type of work are you involved in? Please tell us about your work
It is still new business sales (laughs). So far, I have telephoned people in the agriculture, livestock dairy and forestry industries. When I make appointments, people are happy to hear from me, so I do my best to make as many new contacts as possible. I also heard that in the future we will start sales to companies that are the buyers of carbon credits, so I will do my best so that they will be happy to hire me there as well.
However, I hear that GreenCarbon also allows career hires to take on new challenges, so in the future I would like to do things like consulting and project management, which I have never been involved in before in my life.
Q.Finally, do you have a message for people who want to work for GreenCarbon?
GreenCarbon is a dynamic job where your every move is directly linked to improving the global environment! Of course, when you are working, there are times when you have to deal with detailed work and crowded paperwork. But if I think, ‘This one email of mine, this one copy and paste, will protect the future climate of the Earth’, I can approach any ordinary task with a sense of excitement.
Also, I was born in 1991 and am 32 years old, and I think that generally, if you change jobs at this age, you are often asked to focus on work that builds on the strengths you have built up so far. However, as mentioned above, GreenCarbon is always looking to broaden the horizons of anyone in any position, so if you already have one skill but would like to acquire other skills, I’d love to work with you!
