This time, we interviewed Shiho Takatoku, who is an intern from our Global Sourcing Unit. Please read through to the end!
Q. Could you please share a brief introduction about yourself?
I am currently a third-year student majoring in Global Political Economy at Waseda University’s School of Political Science and Economics. I moved to the U.S. at the age of two and later returned to Japan for university. With a background in competitive gymnastics, I have also worked as an acrobatics instructor. I love staying active, and my current goals are to start Pilates and to travel to Africa this year!
Q. What kind of work are you involved in? Please tell us about your job.
For the most part, I support overseas carbon credit development projects by conducting research to evaluate the feasibility of carbon credit creation in collaboration with farmers, universities, and organizations. Additionally, I assist in writing and translating articles for the company’s website, sharing insights on sustainability and carbon markets.
Q. What do you find rewarding about your work?
At Green Carbon, the work I do as an intern truly feels meaningful because my efforts are directly reflected in the projects that are developed. I feel like an important member of the team, and knowing that my contributions help bring these projects to life makes me proud of the impact we are making. It’s rewarding to see how even as an intern, I am part of something much larger and truly making a difference.
Q. Going forward, what would you like to challenge yourself in?
Working at Green Carbon has given me valuable insights into international environmental policies and the carbon credit market. I hope to build on this experience and contribute to tackling global environmental issues through international organizations or NGOs in the future. In particular, I want to travel to different countries and experience things firsthand.
Q. Lastly, do you have a message for those considering a career at GreenCarbon?
At Green Carbon, even as interns, we are given the opportunity to participate in large carbon credit projects and are entrusted with important tasks. In addition, we have the chance to take on a variety of work, from research to writing business proposals. For those interested in sustainability efforts and eager to challenge themselves, Green Carbon is the perfect place!
