Vol.14 You can take on as many challenges as you like in a varied environment.

We interviewed Hitomi Hayashi, Accounting Manager. What do the members who support the company’s foundations have to say? Please read to the end!

Q.Please briefly introduce yourself, including your career to date.

As a new graduate, I worked for about five years as a public relations officer for a machinery manufacturer, which was the foundation of my working life. I changed jobs several times after that, but the longest was at my previous job at an IT start-up company, where I experienced all kinds of back-office work, including recruitment, sales, accounting, labour relations, general affairs and helpdesk. I worked with engineers, and this coincided with the timing of childbirth and childcare, so my skills in efficiently carrying out a large volume of work were considerably developed at this workplace. In addition, I became interested in social and environmental issues when I took on the responsibility of promoting SDGs activities within the company, which led to a career change. In my previous position, I was mainly responsible for providing project management support for ODA projects in an organisation based in Indonesia.

Q.What made you decide to work for GreenCarbon?

The main reason was that I sympathised with the idea of ‘saving the planet with the power of life’. There are many projects and activities in the world with a sustainable approach, but even if the idea is there, the approach itself may not be sustainable or may not be in line with the essence of the idea. There is a question as to whether the initiatives themselves are not sustainable or not in line with the essence of sustainability. In this context, Green Carbon has researched all kinds of technologies to generate carbon credits on its own, and while developing its own business, it has found a solution and a business model that can reduce CO2 emissions and give back to the primary industry at the same time, which I felt had great potential. Believing in the potential of life, I wanted to do what I could to help in the business of realising a planet where ‘no one is left behind’.

Q.What type of work are you involved in? Please tell us about your work

I am mainly responsible for accounting operations, but am also involved in all back-office operations. I am working on a daily basis to optimise our operations so that we can provide monthly financial reports to our shareholders in a timely manner. We are also promoting the launch of subsidiaries overseas one after another, and I am involved in work related to the launch of each company as well as accounting work.

Q.What makes your job worthwhile?

I feel a dizzying sense of development, with a large investment every month, several new colleagues joining every week and several press releases a week. I have experienced all kinds of back-office operations, but I still feel freshness from the monthly shareholder meetings and the communication on line that flies around.

Where I still have a lot to learn as a full-time accountant, I am grateful to have been hired with potential, and I would like to work to bring joy to shareholders and employees while making use of my past experience.

As an extension of this, I would like to see a planet where ‘no one is left behind’, and I will do my best no matter what comes my way! I feel energised.

Q.Finally, do you have a message for people who want to work for GreenCarbon?

If you want to face up to environmental challenges, take on uncharted territory and make the most of what you can do, this is the place for you. If you enjoy Green Carbon’s ever-changing environment, which is still growing at a rapid pace, we’d like you to stand up to the challenge with us – we’re looking forward to working with you!
