〜Aiming to generate approximately 180,000 tonnes of CO₂ removal (CDR) credits from two newly established plants and to obtain Isometric certification〜
Green Carbon Inc. (CEO: Jun Okita; hereinafter “Green Carbon”), a company engaged in the development and sale of nature-based carbon credits, has announced a partnership with Excellent Enfab Incorporation (Partner: Nilesh Sheth; hereinafter “Excellent Enfab”), an Ahmedabad, India–based biochar plant manufacturer with an extensive track record. Through this partnership, the two companies will launch a new Biochar Carbon Removal (BCR) project (hereinafter “Project”) in the states of Gujarat and West Bengal, India.
Under the Project, regionally sourced agricultural residues—such as flower stems and peanut shells—as well as forestry residues including bamboo will be converted into durable biochar. The Project aims to obtain certification under the stringent Isometric (※1)standard and plans to generate approximately 18,000 tonnes of CO₂ Removal (CDR) (※2) credits annually for at least 10 years.

◆Background of the Partnership
Under this partnership, Excellent Enfab will leverage its longstanding expertise in the design and manufacturing of industrial pyrolysis plants to undertake the construction and operation of facilities with a capacity of 50 TPD(※3). Green Carbon, meanwhile, will lead project management, collaboration with local farmers, and the generation and commercialization of high-integrity CDR credits. The biochar and wood vinegar produced will be applied to agricultural land, contributing to the development of a circular economy and improving local soil health.
◆Addressing Climate and Agricultural Challenges
This Project directly tackles two of the most critical challenges facing India: soil degradation and greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture. Over the past 70 years, the country’s average soil organic carbon (SOC) content has declined significantly from 1% to 0.3% (※4), reaching a critical level. By applying biochar to farmland, the Project enables long-term carbon sequestration for over 1,000 years, while also restoring degraded soils, enhancing water retention capacity, and improving crop productivity—thereby contributing to increased profitability for local farmers.
◆Commitment to High Integrity and Scalability
This Project has been developed with the objective of supplying high-integrity carbon markets and adheres to the Isometric standard, which ensures scientific rigor and transparent digital MRV (measurement, reporting, and verification). The plant is scheduled to commence commercial operations in the second quarter of 2026 and represents a core pillar of Green Carbon’s mid- to long-term strategy.
The company’s portfolio also includes plans for additional biochar plants in India, Vietnam, and Thailand, as well as a biorefinery (※5) project in Nagpur. This modular and scalable business model is designed to enable rapid deployment and support the company’s target of achieving 300,000 tonnes (tCO₂e) of carbon removal annually across South Asia by 2030.

| India is an extremely important region for deploying scalable carbon removal solutions. We are delighted to launch this Project in Ahmedabad in partnership with Excellent Enfab Incorporation, a leader in pyrolysis technology. This 50-ton-per-day plant is only the first step. Going forward, we will expand multiple facilities across South Asia registered under high-quality standards such as Isometric and Puro.earth, aiming to achieve megaton-scale CDR generation by 2030 while supporting the sustainable development of regional agricultural communities. |

| We are proud to collaborate with Green Carbon on this groundbreaking biochar project. Our mission has always been to deliver high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective industrial solutions. This Project leverages our expertise in agricultural waste pyrolysis technology to help address critical environmental challenges in our home state of Gujarat. We aim to transform agricultural residues into valuable resources for both farmers and the climate. |
※1:Isometric
Isometric is a leading carbon removal registry and standard built for high-integrity markets. It serves as a certification body for carbon removal, providing protocols and technology approval for projects, such as biochar carbon removal. The Isometric Standard is defined by its focus on scientific rigor, ensuring long-term carbon storage with 1,000+ year permanence, and verifying impact through transparent dMRV (digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification).
※2:CDR
Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR), a tool for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, refers to human activities that remove CO2 from the atmosphere and permanently store it in underground reservoirs, marine environments, or concrete products.
※3:TPD=Tons Per Day
A unit indicating processing capacity per day
※4:The Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) content in India has declined from 1% to 0.3% over the past 70 years.

※5:Biorefinery
A technology and industrial system that uses renewable biological resources (biomass), such as plants and waste materials, as feedstock to produce fuels, chemicals, plastics, and other products through the action of microorganisms and enzymes. As a carbon-neutral production process that does not rely on petroleum, it is expected to contribute to reducing environmental impact and advancing a circular economy.

◆About Green Carbon
Guided by the vision of “Harnessing the power of life to save the Earth,” Green Carbon develops and supports projects that generate, register, and sell nature-based carbon credits both in Japan and abroad. The company is also engaged in agriculture-related businesses, R&D initiatives, and ESG consulting. Its business activities span Japan, Southeast Asia, Australia, and South America, creating credits from rice paddies, biochar, forest conservation, carbon farming, mangrove planting, and cattle methane reduction. In Japan, Green Carbon obtained certification in FY2023 for the country’s first and one of the largest-scale rice paddy J-Credit projects (approx. 6,220 t). In FY2024, the company plans to expand this initiative to around 40,000 ha (approx. 80,000 t). Green Carbon also provides “Agreen,” a one-stop platform service that streamlines the entire process of credit registration, application, and sales. By simplifying procedures and documentation, the service reduces the administrative burden on credit creators.
