Q. Please give us a brief introduction of yourself, including your career history.

I’m a business administration student at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, focusing on green human resources management. I’m currently in the process of writing an undergraduate thesis with the theme revolving around HRM in Indonesian sustainability companies. I’ve had internships in business development, and a part-time job as a teaching assistant and cleaning service at REX Hotel Beppu. Now, I’m focused on sustainability-related projects as one of the research teams at Green Carbon.

Q. What made you want to work at Green Carbon?

I’ve always been passionate about sustainability and wanted to apply my business studies to real-world challenges. I saw this role as the perfect opportunity to work on projects that make a real impact and combine my interests in business and the environment, which could lead me to move toward the sustainability career path. Having a different academic background from the industry I’m working in made me feel more intrigued and challenged to see myself learn and grow at the work I’m doing.

Q. What kind of work are you involved in? Please tell us about your job responsibilities.

I’m mostly involved in research for climate and carbon market projects. My role includes collecting data, reviewing literature, and helping to create risk assessments for carbon offset projects. I also contribute to supporting the business development team and assist with creating project designs and strategies.

Q. What challenges have you faced so far?

There is a lot of technical knowledge and terms to keep up with within this industry, especially the international standards that are constantly evolving, such as Verra, Gold Standard, etc. However, I also see it as a great learning experience that has pushed me to improve my critical skills. Moreover, since I on-board as a remote intern, sometimes it’s hard to match schedules with the team leaders, meetings, or project deadlines.

Q. What would you like to take on in the future?

I’m eager to take on more responsibility in future projects that focus on sustainability. I want to be directly involved in shaping and leading large-scale initiatives that promote sustainable practices within businesses. I’m particularly interested in projects that drive impactful change in the way companies approach environmental responsibility, and I’d love to help develop strategies that integrate sustainability at every level of business operations.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I believe that 10 years from now, sustainability is no longer a distinct term, but rather the “new” normal for all activities. Thus, with that being the situation, I see myself working and leading directly on solutions that help businesses and communities adopt sustainable practices and create innovations. I aim to be actively involved in shaping policies and practices that promote environmental responsibility within the company I work at (or maybe the company I build!).

Q. Finally, please give a message to those who want to work at GreenCarbon.

If you’re passionate about sustainability and want to make a difference, even if you have a completely different academic background, I’d definitely recommend applying and try your luck! Green Carbon is the place where you’ll be challenged, but you’ll also learn a lot and get to work on projects that matter, with a lot of insightful people and wonderful teams!🤩🤩
