Q.Please give us a brief introduction of yourself, including your career history.
My name is Anandha Selvi Premnandhan, but I go by Selvi. I am an Indian who was born and raised in Japan, pursuing a bachelors degree in Mechanical, Material and Aerospace Engineering in INSA Lyon, France. Before joining Green Carbon, I did an exchange semester at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, where I further developed my knowledge on aerospace systems and aero-design. For my first year of university, I had the opportunity to complete an internship at CVUT in Prague, Czech Republic, where I gained my first research and technical work experience. I really enjoy learning.
Q.What made you want to work at Green Carbon?
My main goal was to gain an internship experience, understand how a company works, the hierarchy, and the collaboration between the staff. When I researched more into what Green Carbon is as a company, I was interested in the projects focusing on carbon credits and reducing carbon emissions in paddy fields. This made me think of ways on how I could merge my knowledge that I would gain during this internship with my aerospace degree, especially because innovations in sustainability and carbon reductions are gaining more recognition across all industries, especially in aerospace. I hoped to explore how similar approaches could be adapted into the aerospace sector where efficiency, climate responsibility and innovation are vital.
Q. What kind of work are you involved in? Please tell us about your job responsibilities.
At Green Carbon, I am part of the Research Team and have been contributing to the Baseline and Investor Reports for the Philippines. I also take on the responsibilities as the Country Manager for Mexico, where I help coordinate and father information related to ongoing and potential projects. My role primarily involves a lot of research, along with analysis of data and collaboration with team members from different countries, which helped me better understand both the technical and organizational aspects of project development.

Q.What challenges have you faced so far?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was in my first month at Green Carbon, when I had to help with a grant for a project. Since it was my first time working on a grant, everything was completely new to me. I had to learn not only the structure and the requirements, but also the technical details of the agricultural project from scratch. On top of that, I was also responsible for preparing the budgets, which was another area I had never worked on before. At first, it felt very overwhelming, but with proper time-management, collaboration and seeking guidance from my fellow interns and staff members, I gradually gained confidence. In the end, this particular challenge became a valuable learning experience because it pushed me outside of my comfort zone and taught me new skills I had never expected to develop.
Q.What has been the most rewarding part of working at Green Carbon?
The most rewarding part for me was being trusted with real responsibility, especially when working on the baseline reports. I had to take initiative and conduct intensive research on different regions in the Philippines, and gather data across multiple countries. It was a challenging task, but with collaboration with other interns and staff members, the task was ultimately completed within a month. Seeing the final results and knowing that our work directly contributed to Green Carbon’s future projects gave me a strong sense of accomplishment and confidence.
Q. Finally, please give a message to those who want to work at GreenCarbon.
I believe that Green Carbon is a great place to learn not only about carbon markets and sustainability, but also about team work, international collaboration and project management. It is a unique opportunity to connect with your own field of study with real-world solutions. If you are open to new ideas and are willing to learn, I think you will definitely find the experience here both rewarding and inspiring.
