This time, we interviewed Yoshitaka Ono, who works as an intern in our domestic business division. Please read on to find out how Jun decided to join our company and what kind of growth he has experienced in his daily work!
Name: Yoshitaka Ono
Deparment/Position:Domestic Sourcing Unit
University: Ritsumeikan University
Major/Studies:Microeconomics and Environmental Economics
Reason for joining Green Carbon:I wanted to work to protect nature.
Career Background:I am from Osaka Prefecture and played soccer for 11 years from the first grade of elementary school. After entering Ritsumeikan University, I took a year off and studied abroad in San Francisco, USA.
Spend My Days Off:I love travelling and seeing natural scenery.

Q. Please give us a brief introduction of yourself, including your career history.
I am Yoshitaka Ono, a fourth-year student in College of Economics at Ritsumeikan University. At university, I am focusing on microeconomics, and in my seminar, I am conducting research on the theme of ‘What kind of institutional design is necessary in each municipality to effectively utilise wood biomass?’
Outside of academics, I love nature and enjoy visiting places rich in natural beauty, such as Yosemite National Park in the United States and the Canadian Rockies in Canada. Among these, the Eagle River Nature Centre in Alaska left a particularly strong impression on me. The breathtaking scenery not only overwhelmed me but also made me strongly feel the importance of preserving this natural environment for future generations.
Q. What made you want to work at GreenCarbon?
I felt that this was the most logical business model for protecting the nature I love so much.
The carbon credits handled by Green Carbon, which focus on absorption and reduction, are a system where reducing environmental impact directly translates into economic benefits, thereby realising a virtuous cycle between the environment and the economy.
Additionally, despite being an underdeveloped market, the carbon credit market holds significant potential for future expansion. The opportunity to operate as a startup with autonomy in this market was also highly appealing. I felt truly inspired by the opportunity to create something unprecedented in Japan with my own hands.
Q. What kind of work are you involved in? Please tell us about your job duties.
Currently, I mainly support Mr. Doi’s work, but I am also involved in various other tasks such as creating documents, responding to emails, and participating in meetings.
What I find unique is that rather than being given the answer right away, I am first given time to think for myself, and then I am trained to explain my thoughts logically. Through my daily work, I am honing my thinking and proposal skills, and I truly feel that every day is a day of growth.
Q. What challenges would you like to take on in the future?
I want to launch and promote projects that create something from nothing.
I still have a lot to learn, but I want to gain experience through practice and acquire the ability to shape a business or system. In the future, I want to continue to take on challenges with the goal of becoming someone who can build systems that contribute to solving social issues.
Q. Finally, please share a message for those who want to work at Green Carbon.
Green Carbon is a company that aims to solve social issues through the power of nature.
Some people question whether global warming is really a problem, but I believe that reducing GHG emissions is one of the best choices we can make for future generations. I chose this path because I want to preserve the beautiful nature of the world for future generations.
For those who share the same desire to protect nature, as well as those who want to gain experience in new fields or tackle social issues through business, Green Carbon offers the best environment for taking on new challenges.
