This time, we sat down with Haruto Hoki, who’s currently interning in our Domestic Business Division. We hope you enjoy the read!
Q. Please briefly introduce yourself.
I’m a third-year student at Waseda University’s School of Political Science and Economics, majoring in political science. In my seminar, I focus on analyzing voter behavior in elections, and I use tools like R, so every day is full of new learning opportunities.
I’m also a big fan of snowboarding and belong to a snowboarding club. During the season, I often work remotely while staying in the mountains. This past season, I had quite a few injuries, so my goal now is to “ride without getting hurt”!
Q. What made you decide to work at GreenCarbon?
I first came across GreenCarbon while I was staying in the mountains for snowboarding and looking for a job I could do remotely — that was the main reason, to be honest! (laughs) Since I have a background in science, I was really drawn to the idea of getting involved in a cutting-edge field like carbon credits. Although my university studies aren’t directly related, during the interview I was told that what really matters is a willingness to learn — not having all the knowledge upfront. That gave me the confidence to join GreenCarbon as an intern.
Q. What do you find most rewarding about your work?
I’ve mainly been involved in the rice paddy-based carbon credit project within the Domestic Business Division. Every day, I encounter new terms and experiences I’ve never come across before. It’s challenging, but I find it even more rewarding.
Q. What challenges would you like to take on in the near future?
With only two years left in my university life, I want to take on challenges that I can only experience as a student. Personally, I’m looking forward to visiting different countries and would also love to live abroad for a while to get a feel for life there. As for my internship, I’m eager to get involved in projects beyond rice paddies, such as biochar or livestock-related initiatives. I want to keep learning and growing by working on a wide range of projects.
Q.Finally, do you have a message for those who are interested in working at GreenCarbon?
An internship at GreenCarbon is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and be involved in cutting-edge projects. I don’t think there are many internships where you can help “save the Earth with the power of life,” and the sense of purpose you get here is truly rewarding. If you’re looking for more than just a part-time job and want to gain meaningful experience and knowledge, I highly recommend joining us. It can be challenging at times, but I’m sure an inspiring and fulfilling daily experience awaits you!
