Vol.24 Interns Challenging Unknown Territories

Q. Could you please share a brief introduction about yourself?

I am a fourth-year student at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, majoring in North American Studies/English. (Including the period I studied abroad, this is my fifth year in university life.) At university, I have been studying the theme of women’s sexuality and reproduction. In my third year, I studied abroad in Texas, USA, where discussions on state laws prohibiting abortion are active, and I majored in Women’s and Gender Studies. Since returning to Japan, I have been focusing on research regarding the perception of the body in the Women’s Liberation Movement in Japan in the 1970s.

Q. What inspired you to join GreenCarbon?

I decided to take on a long-term internship to increase my resolution of what working life might be like because I was unable to specifically imagine my future after graduation.  Among many companies recruiting student interns, I was attracted to Green Carbon as it provided an environment where I could utilize my major in English. Although the field of environmental studies was far from my specialty as a liberal arts student, my curiosity to “try it out!” won over, and I decided to join the company.

Q. What kind of work are you involved in? And what is the rewarding part of your job?

As an intern in the overseas business department, I am responsible for tasks such as document creation and research. Despite being a student intern, I find it rewarding to be involved in large-scale projects like the development of carbon credit creation projects abroad.

Q. What challenges have you faced so far?

Since this is my first internship in a completely different field from my major at university, I feel a daily lack of knowledge and skills. Every time I come across new knowledge through my work, I strive to absorb it on the spot. Additionally, because my strengths are not yet firmly established, I want to challenge any task that is entrusted to me.

Q. Could you share a message for those who are interested in working at GreenCarbon?

Green Carbon is filled with excitement in pioneering unknown territories. Because we tackle issues with no predetermined answers, good ideas are actively incorporated regardless of experience or position. Green Carbon is perfect for those interested in environmental business and those who are eager to take on new challenges.
