We will invite paddy farmers from Hokkaido who have actual achievements in creating J-Credits to share their “live voices.”
Green Carbon Inc. (President: Jun Okita, hereinafter referred to as Green Carbon) is pleased to announce that it will hold an online seminar (hereinafter referred to as this seminar) on the method of creating J-Credits by reducing methane gas through the extension of the midseason drainage period in paddy fields.
This seminar will be held online for paddy farmers and companies that want to create J-Credits. This time, we will invite paddy farmers from Hokkaido, who are part of Green Carbon’s Rice Cultivation Consortium and have actual achievements in creating J-Credits, to share their “live voices.” The seminar is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, February 25, and Thursday, February 27. We look forward to the participation of paddy farmers and companies from all over the country who want to create J-Credits.
◆ Details of This Seminar

◆Background of This Seminar
In March 2023, Green Carbon created Japan’s first and largest-scale J-Credits from paddy fields by extending the midseason drainage period, based on the adopted methodology. In fiscal year 2024, we plan to create approximately 80,000 tons of J-Credits with the cooperation of about 900 agricultural corporations and companies nationwide, covering approximately 40,000 hectares. In the third year, fiscal year 2025, we aim to expand to approximately 100,000 hectares and about 450,000 tons (including about 20,000 hectares and approximately 80,000 tons in Hokkaido).
This seminar is organized based on the achievements of creating the largest-scale J-Credits in Japan and expanding the network of paddy farmers nationwide, aiming to share Green Carbon’s know-how and case studies of paddy farmers participating in rice cultivation consortia in various regions. By resolving questions about the extension of the midseason drainage period and the J-Credit system, we will create an environment where paddy farmers who plan to participate from fiscal year 2025 onward can join with confidence. At the end of fiscal year 2024, we conducted a survey of about 1,000 paddy farmers participating in the rice cultivation consortium to investigate whether the extension of the midseason drainage period affects yield and quality. ◆Business Introduction of Green Carbon
Green Carbon operates with the vision of “Saving the Earth with the Power of Life”, by providing comprehensive support for the creation, registration, and sales of carbon credits in domestic and international markets. We are also expanding our business operations in wider industries including the agriculture, research & development, and ESG consulting. Our operations are primarily based in Japan and Southeast Asia, while currently expanding business in Australia and South America. We create naturally derived carbon credits from sources including water paddies, biochar, forest conservation, carbon farming, mangrove plantation, and methane from cattle eructation. Our main focus is on generating carbon credits through methane gas reduction in rice paddies, where we have obtained the first and largest certification for J-Credits in Japan (approximately 6,220 tons), and plan to expand to around 40,000 hectares (approximately 100,000 tons) in the fiscal year 2024. We also offer a service called “Agreen” that integrates credit registration, application, and sales into one platform, simplifying procedures such as application registration and document preparation, thus reducing workload for credit creators.
