I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environment and Sustainability at the University of British Columbia’s Vancouver campus in Canada.

Q. Please briefly introduce yourself and share your career background.

My name is Noah Morita, a third-year student majoring in Environment and Sustainability in the Department of Geography at the University of British Columbia.

During high school, I transferred to an international school in Singapore due to my father’s relocation and completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. A major turning point for me was reading The Walt Disney Company’s Sustainability Report during high school. Their inclusive approach—not only toward reducing environmental impact but also toward supporting employees and local communities worldwide—deeply inspired me. It became the reason I chose to pursue environmental studies and seek a career that contributes to society through sustainability.

In high school, I served as Student Council President and launched a Beach Clean-Up Project focused on marine conservation—an initiative that continues to this day through younger students. At UBC’s nature-rich Vancouver campus, I have engaged in hands-on research such as visualizing population movements and climate vulnerability using ArcGIS Pro, as well as developing policy proposals for urban environmental challenges.

I also work at a Michelin one-star sushi restaurant in Vancouver, where I have strengthened my hospitality and intercultural communication skills in a global environment. Ultimately, my long-term goal is to become a member of The Walt Disney Company. Since encountering Disney’s sustainability initiatives as a student, every part of my academic, international, and professional journey has been shaped by the aspiration to contribute to environmental action and community well-being on a global scale—just like Disney does. I continue learning and challenging myself each day to move closer to that dream.

Q. What kind of work are you involved in at Green Carbon?

When I worked at the Tokyo office, I supported Agreen’s redevelopment and requirements definition, while also communicating with operation teams in the Philippines and Vietnam to analyze feedback gathered during pilot operations. Being able to extract real user pain points and convert them into actionable improvement proposals was an invaluable experience.

I also conducted competitor analyses of agricultural support apps, helping refine redevelopment plans and organize improvement points for differentiation. After returning to Vancouver, I continue to support the team remotely by assisting with research, preparing materials for pilot operations, and supporting user communication—balancing this with my studies and part-time job. Despite the distance, I feel deeply connected to the team through Slack and online meetings, and find great meaning in contributing as an active member of the project.

Q. What motivates you in your work?

I find great motivation in being able to reflect feedback from farmers and local operation teams directly into service improvements. Seeing how app enhancements can reduce operational burdens or how more accurate data can support climate action and yield improvement gives me a real sense of social impact.

One memorable experience was when a proposal I created—based on competitor analysis and pilot feedback—was actually adopted into Agreen’s redevelopment plan. Being entrusted with this level of responsibility as an intern, and seeing my ideas take shape in the product, has been incredibly empowering. Green Carbon’s culture encourages team members to voice ideas freely if they believe it will benefit users, and that environment itself is a major source of motivation for me.

Q.What do you want to challenge yourself with moving forward?

I hope to become more deeply involved in expanding and improving the quality of Agreen’s overseas pilot operations. In particular, I want to contribute to tailoring UI/UX and app features to suit the diverse agricultural practices and workflows found in the Philippines, Vietnam, and other regions. I also want to explore ways to evolve Agreen beyond a traditional “agricultural support tool” into something that blends more naturally into users’ daily lives. One concept I previously proposed—integrating local incentives such as shopping mall or supermarket loyalty points—could help transform Agreen into a platform that connects agricultural support with everyday community engagement. My ambition is to become a “bridge” between farmers and the app—someone who translates real needs into tangible product value.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years, I aim to become a professional who creates value at the intersection of environment, technology, and global impact. Leveraging my strengths in environmental knowledge, geospatial data analysis, and intercultural communication, I hope to deliver long-term positive change to communities around the world. Ultimately, my goal is to join The Walt Disney Company and contribute to sustainability strategies and global environmental initiatives. Since the moment I read their sustainability report in high school, Disney’s commitment to inclusive and community-centered action has been the guiding force behind my career path. A decade from now, I hope to embody that philosophy in my work—creating a world where “environmental progress and community well-being grow together,” and contributing to building a more inclusive and sustainable future.
