Name : IBIMILUYI Paul Kehinde
Department/Position : Global Sourcing/Intern
Area of Expertise/Assigned Duties: Agribusiness/Research on carbon credit methodologies and carbon project potentials in Africa.
University : International University of Japan
Major/Studies : Masters of Business Administration
Reason for Joining Green Carbon: I am drawn to Green Carbon’s focus on nature-based solutions to mitigate climate change, especially since it involves working with farmers which is a community I was part of until May I appreciate that the methodologies used by Green Carbon prioritize maintaining land productivity for food production. For me, generating carbon credits is an added bonus. I see this as an opportunity to learn more about soil conservation, knowledge I can share with smallholder farmers in Nigeria. This approach aligns with my belief that we can address food security while also protecting the environment. Green Carbon’s methodologies promote a balanced, win-win situation for everyone involved.

Career Background: I worked as a farmer for nearly five years, cultivating crops like maize and cassava. During this time, I also provided consulting services to fellow agricultural enthusiasts who were seeking investments in agriculture. I have served as a farm manager for several farms, where my responsibilities included planning work schedules, budgeting, and determining whether to hire contract workers or full-time staff. Before venturing into farming, I worked as a house manager at a guesthouse, handling HR tasks and general management. Additionally, I have been involved in international consulting projects with teams from around the world primarily the USA and India helping a business enterprise explore international markets.
Hobbies/How I Spend My Days Off: Classes and research report at my university. On other days, I do sports or go sightseeing.
Student Activities/Organizations: Soccer and volleyball club

Q. Please give us a brief introduction of yourself, including your career history.
I am Nigerian from the Yoruba tribe. My name is Kehinde because I’m a twin, lol. My academic background is in Agricultural Economics, otherwise known as agribusiness.
I have always been passionate about agriculture and food security, which motivated me to study a course in this field. My strengths are in respecting everyone’s opinions and my ability to work effectively in a team. I believe that whatever is worth doing and I am always open to learning and improvement.
A fun fact about me is that I cannot swim, lol.
Q. What do you find rewarding about your work?
Researching and learning about Alternate Wetting and Drying, biochar, and regenerative agriculture gives me joy because I realize there is hope for the future and we can be food secure and at the same time have a safe planet. From this research that I carry out within the tasks, I realize that our planet can actually be safe if everyone is conscious of how their daily activities impact the climate negatively. For example, during my time on the farm, I noticed visible land degradation as a result of tillage operations which saddened me because the land produces less yield year in year out and increased the need for fertilizers.
Q. What challenges have you faced so far?
One of the challenges I faced was the tasks on the climate mitigation methodologies as I was new to the fieId until I joined Green Carbon. However, my team leader and fellow interns made the process seamless by being open and answering any questions I had. Thanks to their support, I was able to carry out the tasks without struggling.
Q. What would you like to take on in the future?
In the future, I would like to lead projects in Africa including both pilot and full scale project implementation in Africa. Beyond the gains of carbon credit, these climate mitigation methodologies also promote better farming practices that do not reduce yield and maintain the soils in good condition over different planting seasons as we experience in conventional farming. I believe adopting these methodologies on a larger scale will be beneficial. An example is saving the massive amount of agricultural wastes and making biochar which can in turn be used for land improvement.
In 10 years, I want to have a personal farm that is adopting climate safe agricultural practices and generating carbon credits.
Q. Finally, please give a message to those who want to work at GreenCarbon.
Green Carbon has been a wonderful place to learn and grow. The warm support from team leaders and fellow interns demonstrates how nurturing and collaborative the environment is. It provides a great opportunity for interns to develop their skills. Irrespective of your background, at Green Carbon, you will have a chance to learn on the job. Since I started working here, I’ve not had any issues with tasks because everyone is friendly and approachable. It is easy to ask questions when some things are not clear.
For anyone seeking to work here at Green Carbon, be sure to have a positive experience and grow personally and professionally.
