Q. Please give us a brief self-introduction, including your career background.
I’m Kiyora Kodama, a second-year graduate student. During my undergraduate years, I studied the fundamentals of information systems, and since entering graduate school, I’ve been working on research into MEV exploitation prevention measures in blockchain technology.
I got involved in environmental fields because I’ve always loved nature and been interested in the global environment. When carbon neutrality and GX (Green Transformation) started being promoted through TV and social media advertising, I began getting involved in policy and education through the Green Innovator Academy.
Also, since blockchain technology—which I’m researching—mainly contributes through J-Credit trading and similar applications, I thought there might be something I could contribute, so I decided to take the leap.
Q. What kind of work are you involved in? Please tell us about your job responsibilities.
Currently, I’m working on tasks related to J-Credit applications for rice cultivation. My main responsibilities include checking evidence required for applications, data entry using Excel and spreadsheets, and data organization and workflow automation in customer management systems.
J-Credit application work requires careful attention to detail, so there are many tasks that require patience. However, my supervisors and other interns are extremely kind, and I can proceed through conversations about how to derive numbers and organize information, which makes it enjoyable.
Regarding customer management system work, I’m involved in data organization for analysis and workflow automation using the application’s proprietary programming language. Being able to contribute to practical work from a programming perspective has been an extremely valuable learning experience.
Q. What motivated you to want to work at Green Carbon?
I was interested in carbon neutrality, carbon credits, and renewable energy businesses, and when I was searching for work related to these areas on Wantedly, I found that Green Carbon’s business content and corporate philosophy perfectly aligned with my thoughts and what I wanted to do.
After actually joining, I’ve been able to learn what I was looking for through practical work, and I genuinely think “I’m glad I could work here.”
Q. What would you like to challenge yourself with in the future?
I haven’t been able to dedicate much time to this due to job hunting activities, but now that things have settled down, I’d like to learn more deeply about J-Credits going forward.
Also, regarding the customer management system I’m currently using, I feel I’m not utilizing all its functions, so I’d like to work on improving the system so that more people involved can use it more conveniently.
Q. What made you happy about working at Green Carbon?
Among the various analysis items related to rice cultivation, when I compiled data into graphs and tables to share, I was happy to receive words of gratitude saying “Thank you.” It made me happy that my work was useful to someone and that I could be relied upon, which motivated me to work even harder.
Also, in customer management system work, I realized that what I learned in university was being applied in practical work, and it was a great joy to see that my learning was useful in society. Feeling how everything I’ve accumulated is gradually connecting in the field has also boosted my confidence.
Furthermore, my supervisor always notices and praises even small achievements and innovations, so being able to work while feeling my own growth is also wonderful.
Q. Finally, please give a message to people who want to work at Green Carbon.
At Green Carbon, there’s an environment where you can actually work on things you want to challenge yourself with. There are also supervisors who warmly support those challenges and carefully address questions that arise during work.
I joined during my job hunting period, and there were many times when I needed sudden schedule changes for interviews and such. Even in those situations, they responded flexibly and really helped me out. Additionally, when I fell ill, they suggested a comfortable way of working, which I was very grateful for.
Not only can you deeply understand how J-Credits are created through practical work, but you can also experience the forefront of carbon neutrality and carbon credits, which is a major attraction.
GreenCarbon is a truly recommended workplace for someone who wants to grow, learn about carbon credits, and contribute to the future of our planet!
