Q.Could you please provide a brief self-introduction, including an overview of your career to date?

My name is Ginny. I was born and raised in the United States and moved to Japan after graduating high school. I graduated from Tsukuba University with a degree in International Social Science. My undergraduate research focused on Carbon Cap and Trade Policy in Tokyo and Yokohama. I am now pursuing a master’s degree in International Public Policy at Tsukuba University while continuing my research on carbon markets.

Q. What led you to pursue your current job?

My passion for sustainability led me to pursue my current job. Growing up, I realized the importance of responsible stewardship of the environment. While studying at university I learned about the ways that we can shape our society to promote balance with nature. That is why I chose to pursue a job where I can realize this goal.

Q. What kind of work are you involved in? Could you share more about your roles?

I am part of two teams. As part of the Model Development Team my job is to research potential new models. For example, I researched the use of AI to analyze satellite images and assessed its feasibility for implementation in our projects. In the Document Team, I work on both market research and documentation. These days I am researching biochar markets in Southeast Asia and helping to streamline documentation for various purposes.

Q. What do you find most rewarding or fulfilling about your work?

While researching carbon markets has also been rewarding, having real experience in a carbon credit company is incomparable. I can experience in real time the practical effects of the policy I research. In addition, I am surrounded by passionate and intelligent individuals who share my drive which pushes me to achieve my goals.

Q.What challenges have you faced so far?

My main challenge so far has been narrowing my focus to a reasonable scope. Because I am curious about many projects, I tend to want to jump into all of them- which leads to me hopping around many projects in a short timeframe. Meanwhile, I have been challenged by the need to balance my time with my university research. Though in my opinion I believe these are good challenges to have.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 10 years, and what are the challenges you’re excited to take on ?

I am excited to graduate and work in the green industry. My generation carries a heavy burden of both implementing and expanding sustainable business practices. The necessary change is only feasible when synchronised with business-forward efforts- that is why I am excited to contribute to the growth of Green Carbon.

Q. Finally, please share a message for people who want to work at Green Carbon.

If you are interested in working at Green Carbon, please take the next step! Any and all backgrounds are welcome here. You will surely grow at a fast pace among a diverse group of passionate people. Join us in helping combat climate change and building a sustainable future!
