This time, we interviewed Eileen D. Tolentino, who is working as the Human Resources and General Affairs Manager at Verde Carbon Capture, Inc., a subsidiary of Green Carbon. Read on to find out how Aileen, with her diverse background, encountered Green Carbon and is making a significant impact!

Name: Eileen D. Tolentino
Position: HR and General Administrative
Specialization/Responsibilities: Human Resources, General Affairs, Finance and Compliance

Q. Please tell us about yourself, including your career background.

I am Eileen D. Tolentino, an HR and General Administrative professional with over 25 years of experience in Human Resources, Administration, Finance, and cross-functional leadership. I’ve had the opportunity to work with professionals, consultants, and executives across various industries and cultures, including manufacturing, logistics, printing, and sustainability. Throughout my career, I have remained grounded in the belief that success comes not just from individual accomplishments but from the relationships we build and the trust we earn through collaboration.

On February 3, 2025, I joined Verde Carbon Capture, Inc. as HR & GA Manager—a role that perfectly aligns with my values. Verde Carbon’s mission of caring for the environment while supporting our local farmers and communities resonates deeply with me. Since joining, I have been involved in managing HR, administration, regulatory liaison, procurement, and importation—key functions that support the company’s transition from start-up to full operations.

At Verde Carbon, our work goes beyond environmental sustainability. It is about people—our colleagues, our farmers, and the communities we serve. I believe that by staying adaptable, values-driven, and committed to continuous learning, we can make a meaningful impact on both the planet and the lives we touch.

Q. What kind of work are you involved in? Please tell us about your job responsibilities.

I manage both strategic and operational functions across several departments — Human Resources, General Affairs, Finance and Compliance.
My role includes:

  • Recruitment and Talent Acquisition
  • Compensation and Benefits Administration
  • Employee Relations and Engagement
  • Social Standards Compliance and Audit Coordination
  • Purchasing, Importation, and Logistics
  • Legal Compliance and Coordination
  • Licensing and coordination with Banks, Customs, Labor, and other (LGU) regulatory bodies

I ensure the smooth operation of internal processes while maintaining compliance with industry, labor, and environmental regulations.

Q. What led you to pursue your current job?

I have always been passionate about serving people and creating meaningful structures within organizations. My generalist background makes me comfortable managing multiple departments and adapting quickly to evolving environments.

What attracted me to Verde Carbon Capture was the opportunity to work in a mission-driven start-up, where I could build systems from the ground up and contribute to a vision that supports environmental care and uplifting Filipino farmers.

Q.What do you find most rewarding or fulfilling about your work?

Being part of a start-up and helping lay the foundation for long-term growth is incredibly fulfilling. I enjoy:

  • Creating systems, policies, and workflows that give structure and clarity
  • Contributing to a purpose-driven organization that is committed to climate action and farmer empowerment
  • Seeing the real-world impact of my work on both the internal team and external communities

Q.What challenges have you faced so far?

The key challenges I’ve faced include:

  • Building everything from scratch — developing policies, systems, and compliance procedures
  • Managing multi-departmental responsibilities across HR, Administration, Finance, Import, and Logistics
  • Handling licensing and permit applications, often under delays and tight deadlines
  • Leading company accreditations such as Import License, Social Security System, Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth, Labor, and other regulatory requirements
  • Ensuring smooth collaboration with partners and stakeholders
  • Developing in-depth relationships with colleagues across Green-Carbon
  • Relocation

Q.Where do you see yourself in 10 years, and what are the challenges you’re excited to take on?

Beyond being a manager, I’m a mother—proud of my two daughters, one now a CPA and the other an aspiring lawyer—and a wife, sustained by the grace of God. In the future, I see myself possibly serving as a consultant, sharing what I’ve learned over the years. But more than any title, I’ve always seen myself as a mother figure to many of my colleagues and staff. Whether through small acts of kindness, quiet support, or simply being present, I’ve always tried to touch lives in the simplest, most genuine way I can.
