This time we interviewed Deepak, who works as a Business Development Manager in the Overseas Division. We hope you enjoy it until the end!
Please provide a brief self-introduction, including your career to date.
After graduating from PhD in Life Science from Hokkaido University, with a specialization in Alzheimer’s drug development, I began my career there as a postdoctoral researcher. To apply the expertise I gained at university to a broader field, I then spent two years working for a Japanese renewable energy company as the lead manager of an overseas project. I was involved in strategically building stakeholder relationships, assisting in the sustainable operation of the project, and negotiating with the client. I also attended negotiations with representatives and executives of Japanese and foreign companies, and used my language skills to lead projects that contributed to global greenhouse gas reduction goals.
What motivated you to work at GreenCarbon?
At the time I joined the company, Green Carbon had already established itself as a global leader in the carbon credit industry, and this appealed to me. I decided to join the company because I felt that my previous experience in international business development and sustainability projects could contribute to and match the future that Green Carbon is aiming for. I hope to find new market opportunities and contribute to Green Carbon’s business expansion. Furthermore, the fact that Green Carbon’s “sincere attitude toward contributing to the environment” is in line with my own values is another reason why I decided to join the company.
What are your responsibilities as the manager of an overseas project? What are your duties?
As Business Development Manager at Green Carbon, I am responsible for building relationships with investors, promoting investment in new projects, and international business development. In particular, my main focus is on expanding biochar and ARR projects in India, and I find it rewarding to secure the funding that is essential for project development.
What do you find rewarding in your work?
At Green Carbon, the opportunity to approach an entirely new industry is what drives me. We are not only committed to simple environmental responsibility, but also to integrating sustainability into the business world. I find it challenging to bridge the gap between environmental needs and practical financial solutions. Because this field is still developing, it is imperative that we continue to learn constantly. The international reach of our projects is particularly exciting, allowing us to build a global network and gain practical experience in cross-cultural cooperation. Ultimately, the greatest reward is seeing the tangible impact we are having and being able to contribute to a more sustainable future while simultaneously growing professionally.
Finally, do you have a message for people who want to work at GreenCarbon?
Green Carbon is a leading company in the carbon credit field, and the fact that Green Carbon offers a great growth and challenge environment where you can learn new things and make an impact in the industry is significant.
Working at Green Carbon allows you to turn your ideas into real projects that contribute to the environment. If you want to apply your knowledge and skills in sustainability and decarbonization, you can use those skills to create new and exciting projects.
Even if you do not have the knowledge and skills, you will still gain exciting experience in structuring projects. Together we can build a better and more sustainable future.
